Good Knowledge in English Language is Crucial to Enjoy Great Hollywood Films

Watching English Movies is one thing, but to understand it deeply is different. Most viewers of a film often fail to grasp the meaning of a film. But, few people watch films with great interest, closely follow almost every aspect of it. I am one of them.

I am also one of those people who does not care about watching dubbed English Films. I prefer to watch movies in their original form – in the English Language. Since I completed my spoken English training classes online in Kolkata and practiced my skills. I like it that way.

But you must be thinking that why I am talking about this odd subject right now. Well, if you are among those serious movie viewers who care about the story, screenplay, acting, and other kinds of artistic stuff, then you understand it.

In my friend circle, I am the only person who cares about the artistic side of foreign films. It felt lonely sometimes, but I know that I understand good movies like no one else in the circle. It is a great feeling that I am enjoying for quite some time.

Dubbed Movies and their Limitations

In India, foreign films are dubbed in the local languages like Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and so on. It is for those people who do not understand English conversations.

Good for Basic Viewers

Dubbed foreign movies are good for the general or the basic viewers who do not care much about the artistic sides of it. They watch them for the sake of entertainment, and sort of time pass. But to understand a film properly, you need to dive deep into the story, feel the characters, and go till the end.

Bad Representation

Most of the time, dubbed movies can not represent the complete film as it is. Dubbed versions, often deviate from the original dialogues and sometimes the theme also. If you closely compare any Foreign movie with its dubbed version, you can notice the differences.

Low in Quality

Low quality dubbed scripts, artists make the movie worse to take the full essence of the English movies. These things often fail to deliver the film subject to the people. Hence, people show less to no interest in them.

Many Great Films are not Dubbed, commercially

Many great movies don’t get any dubbing facility because the producers and distributors don't consider them as profitable enough. Among these are mostly drama, suspense, and thriller categories films. But, if someone wishes to view great movies, then watching these movies is a must. Yet, these are not dubbed in local languages. Hence, most viewers tend to ignore them.

The Solution

For the quality and unavailability issues, most movie lovers can’t watch the greatest movies. Thus, they don’t know how amazing can some movies are. For these reasons, I would highly recommend them to watch foreign English Movies in their original form.

I know that it is really hard to understand every word that the characters say in English Films. But this is a learning experience that helped me to a great extent. I can understand, almost 80-90% of the total movie conversation. For the rest of the 10-20% conversation, I rely on the subtitles. It is the easiest way to grasp the theme and artistic sides of the film that I watch. But again, for everything you need to have some good English skills. At the same time, you also have to read English Newspapers, watch English news and TV programs. These will help you a lot in watching great Hollywood movies and enjoy.
